The Brief

We had already created our clients initial website which had incorporated the holiday aspect of their business, but our client now wished to have the holidays have a stand alone website. It needed to stand out and show off the holidays to the highest level as well as offering a deposit solution and presenting a "prices from ..." solution. Our client also requested a lead capture solution that should be prominent and also their ATOL registration was to be present at all times to gives customers confidence in the brand.

Our Approach

The site was constructed in WordPress using WooCommerce as the main framework for the eCommerce aspect. Having explored various other holiday websites, we knew that there was going to be a requirement for various bits of custom code that would tweak how WooCommerce would normally present products. There was also further customisation required in the order process where additional information was going to need to be collected to ensure holiday bookings could be processed. We decided to float the ATOL Certificate in a fixed position so it is permanently visible on all pages, to reinforce that my client is covered and to give all visitors peace of mind. We put together a number of designs and layouts for my client to approve and once the design was finalised the site was built and the bespoke code incorporated. Adjustments had to be made to ensure that all the other plugins worked correctly with the bespoke code, but they were all ironed out and when everything was as it should, the site was launched.

The Result

The website was well received by client and customers and in excess of 300 bookings have already been received through the site. The bespoke code has eliminated the requirement for emails to be sent travellers chasing personal information, which has saved a significant amount of time and effort on my clients behalf. The added automation the the site has provided has made the business much more efficient and more time has been able to be focussed on growing the operation by offering more holidays. In total, the site is currently offering over 30 holidays that are due to run over the next 18 months.
